I would like to take a 5-10 day road trip from San Francisco to Las Vegas from 20 Nov and looking for people to share a rental car or that would like an extra person to join them on their trip.
I would like to do some hiking in Yosemite, see death valley and have fun in vegas!

Fri Sep 26 07:50:03 EDT 2008enrico, italy [znort.motime.com], fun fun fun and fun hello.. i took the gt bus from portland to sf in 89 and then from la to sf a few weeks later.. then in another noca trip, 2002 I make the utah, amazing holy mountains, parks and gran canyon trip.. I fell in love with the whole thing and with a girl from canada that i never spoke to ever since. She was very smart and beautiful and so were the rest of the crew. I made spaghetti for everybody and turned out not bad.. Enjoyed camping out and walking and talking to rocks and sand, it was really intense. Las Vegas was weird and it was sad when I waved goodbye to all...
During the journey I fell asleep under a tree, the bus left and I had a couple of native indians driving me to the leaving bus.. ahahah that was spooky but my fault too.. groovy groovy groovy..

Re Southern Migration- Southwest is a great suggestion! To date they are still offering 2 bags and no extra charge. However, the return flight from Cancun is ghastly expensive. No, no pickups in San Diego on the Southern Migration trip -Just Tuscon, Phoenix and one other. Am now considering the Tropical Trek in March. Round trip air is abt the same price as a on-way flight.
Re your question -No I've never backpacked. I don't think that's a requirement. Thaks for the info |
Wed Sep 17 18:43:17 EDT 2008exacto, Kanab, Utah, Southern Migration, etc. Hey Shirley! I'm looking into the Southern Migration trip as well as the Gold Coast Loop and the Baja Beach Daze trips. It will depend on when I can get away.
What type of travel have you done before? Have you tried any backpacker-style travel and/or organized bus trips in the past? Do you enjoy hanging out with others? Are you generally flexible while you travel? I think how we do as individuals on these types of trips depends more on who we are than on how the trip is set up.
Also, are you in San Diego now? If that is the case, doesn't this trip swing through San Diego to pick up passengers before crossing into Mexico? If so, you won't need to worry about flying anywhere or the excess baggage charge.
Otherwise, you could always check with the individual air carrier to see how large a bag you can take with you. A small tent and sleeping bag should fit inside a good-sized collapsible bag, leaving room for your personal items too. One option is Southwest Airlines, which is advertising no additional charge for up to 2 checked bags, at least for now.

A friend from LA can't make it to Vegas with me from 23rd to 27th September. I am touring California for a couple of weeks to escape the rainy UK!
Just wondered if anyone else is about and exploring. Would be good to meet up with fellow travellers. Also looking for a one day tours from Vegas to the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon - does this tour company do one-day tours there???

I just need a travel partner to make a fun road trip thru the United States happen! Time is moving on and the summer is passing by.
My friend had to recently cancel going on a US road trip with me so I am looking for a travel partner/companion/co-pilot/friend/buddy to go with on what I believe will be an awesome trip.
I am heading WEST and looking for someone to share the scenery with. I am a single straight male teacher,
42 (gulp!), who wants to take a break from the job and see some sights between here and San Diego (do the tourist thing).
I am looking for someone who has an outgoing personality, willing to camp if necessary at times, is somewhat budget conscious (motels, camping, hotels etc.), and is really interested in the sights and sounds of the open road. My itinerary is flexible but I would like to include : Indianapolis, St. Louis, The Badlands National Park, Yellowstone, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Phoenix, Albuquerque etc. but if the 'world's biggest ball of yarn' or whatever roadside attraction takes me/us away from the plan no problem really.
I would like to leave as soon as possible and I figure the trip will take 2 weeks.
I would supply the car and a goodly portion of the gas expenses and hopefully you could drive a bit and take an ownership in really wanting to check out the quirky and usual attractions. (I don't simply want to be a chauffeur; I want to enjoy the journey and not just the destination. I do not smoke but do drink socially and I am not adverse to trying the local foods, even if it is a TGIFriday's (I am not a food snob and hope that this slice of Americana is appealing to you too.)
I teach in Toronto, but spend time visiting family in Kitchener over the summer and have a cottage in Muskoka. I am an honest down to earth guy who is close to his family and good friends and I realize this travel buddy search is a bit out of the ordinary but there is no time like the present to hit the road.
If interested we would meet and see what could be arranged. For peace of mind I certainly am open to having yourself and a friend for the trip.
