Alaskan Experience - 7 Days
This Green Tortoise Alaska backpacker bus tour is a nature lover's dream! Join us in this majestic world for a wilderness adventure of temperate rainforests, snow-capped mountains, and crystal-clear seas. This camping trek will bring you up close to Alaska's abundant and untouched wildlife!
Excitement awaits us on the Kenai Peninsula. Homer Spit provides us with a plethora of optional activities inlcuding kayaking, a water taxi or mountain biking to name a few. Or if you prefer a slower pace, feel free to just relax and enjoy the natural beauty and take a beachcombing stroll at sunrise or sunset which is truly unforgettable.
Homer is renowned as the "Halibut Capital of the World," and for many, no Alaska trip is complete without catching a few halibut which we'll be happy to grill up for dinner! Other options here include kayaking the bay, or taking a water taxi to Kachemak Bay State Park and hiking to alpine lakes and cool glaciers.
Just before heading to the charming town of Hope, we will embark on a picturesque drive to the western-most point you can drive to on the Kenai Peninsula. Next, learn about sluicing, dredging, and highbanking as you pan for gold in the city of Hope, one of Alaska's first gold rush towns. Go for an optional river rafting trip on Six-Mile Creek, or look for wildlife as you hike along Turnagain Arm to Gull Rock.
Bid a fond farewell to your newfound friends with one last scenic drive back up the Kanai Peninsula as we roll into Anchorage for an evening arrival.
