This 9-day trip includes opportunities to engage in community service and environmental restoration while discovering the wonders of California's majestic shoreline.
After meeting and greeting, we're off to tour the famous sights of San Francisco including Fisherman's Wharf, Mission Dolores, Chinatown and the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Our service work today involves joining forces with a local organization and lending a helping hand providing meals for those in need.**
Today we roll south down the legendary Pacific Coast Highway for a gorgeous ride along the dramatic California coastline. We'll hit the beach in Santa Cruz, where you can test your courage on the Giant Dipper, the fifth oldest roller coaster in the USA, or check out the Surfing Museum.
In Monterey, stroll along John Steinbeck's beloved Cannery Row, spend time at Fisherman's Wharf, or visit the world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium to marvel at the wonders of the Pacific Ocean. Afterwards, we'll head for our campsite under the Coastal Redwoods of Big Sur.
Enjoy some time at San Simeon State Park and discover the beaches of majestic Pacific Ocean. You can visit a nearby Elephant seal colony, take a tour of opulent Hearst Castle, hike through the surrounding wetlands, sea kayak, take surf lessons, or just relax on the beach. We wrap up our day in Santa Barbara, where we'll spend the evening preparing for our chartered boat excursion.
Day 4 - 5
Rise and shine we have an early morning departure and head for the Channel Islands National Park. Keep your cameras handy as we usually are accompanied by playful dolphins who cruise alongside the boat! Visit sea lion colonies, snorkel, kayak or simply enjoy the quiet peace and amazing marine life of the islands on this voyage.
After appreciating the marine life on the islands, we spend today lending a hand with outdoor environmental work. Trail restoration, coastline clean-up, invasive weed eradication or trash pick-up for wildlife protection are just a few of the options we have before we head to to our camp spot for a night under the stars.
Welcome to Santa Monica! Enjoy a beach day, bike the boardwalk, check out the roller coaster on the pier, or catch some waves before we lend a hand to the community. We'll be teaming up today and volunteering to help with a meal service at a shelter in Santa Monica.**
Wake up at today in Central California, where we'll embark on a hands-on, experience-oriented tour through a university agricultural science and technology center. We'll wrap up our farm experience with an outdoor picnic meal at the university park.
We'll say our goodbyes and wrap-up our life-changing trip back in San Francisco.
**Your group will be working together with foundations whose goals are to help the needy overcome their current impoverished status. These foundations offer job skill training, clothing, shelter and food in an effort to alleviate the suffering of poverty-stricken people of all ages. We'll be preparing and serving meals and sharing laughter, smiles and stories with children, women and men as we brighten their day and ours!
Additional Options for this trip include:
An inside look at the Marine Mammal Center of San Francisco. Your tour of the animal hospital and state-of-the-art research facility will be led by marine scientists.
