Free Movies in the Park, why, that's socialism!

One of the most amazing things to come from
postindustrial rise of compact cities is the invention of the outdoor
movie. I’m not talking drive in because
that requires the use of a car and you still have to pay. I’m talking’ sitting in the park watching a
huge movie projected on a screen. Now
the beauty of this set us isn’t only that its free (which is awesome) but that
you can do things in a public park that you could never do in a private
theatre. You can smoke (though for
those of us who are lung conscious staying on the sidelines of the park is
appreciated) you can drink and you can play with the epic amount of dogs who
invariably show up with their people. My favorite thing to do is pack a picnic complete with an epic amount of
booze (mimosas are my favorite) and get there early, you guarantee yourself a
good spot in the park. What park you
ask? Well it’s Dolores Park in the
Mission District of San Francisco. How often does this glorious event take
place you wonder? It’s the 2^nd Thursday of each month. In their own words “We are showing a series
of locally themed movies in Dolores Park for free. No causes, no speeches, no
protesting. Just bring a friend, bring a dog, and check out the scene.”
