Growing, Eric Copeland (black dice), Birds & Batteries at the New Parish, Oakland 18+ $10/$12 9pm. Trippy psychedelic experimental grooves. A good show if you like bands like coil and psychic TV though they have a sound of thier own.
Chad Price, Michael Dean Damron, Micah Schabnel, Piss Pissedoffherson at Thee Parkside 21+ $5 8pm/8:30pm. If you like whiney emo music then here's a show for you, a bunch of guys with guitars crooning about how their women left their sorry asses.
Japanther, The Reaction, Dirty Marquee, Street Eaters at the Hemlock 21+ $7 9pm. A little pop punk a little garage rock, even a little experimentation. A cool bar and an interesting show for sure.
Aesop, Venture Capitalists, The New Humans at Bottom of the Hill 18+ $10 8:30/9pm. So we have an indie rock band opening for some pretty good hip hop bands. If I had the money I would go to this show tonight for sure.
Fix My Head, This Runs On Blood, Useless Children, Gain To Lose at Sub-Mission (Balazo), S.F. $6 9pm (alcoholocaust) Punky goodness, do up some liberty spikes and hit the pit.
Hightower, Hot Lunch, Sons of Glory at the Eagle Tavern, S.F. 21+ 9pm. Metal, punk, and psychedelic rock. A little bit for the little whacked out music lover in all of us.

Sightings (NY), Nuclear Death Wish, Curse Of the Birthmark, The Careerers, Black Stool at Oasis, 135 12th St., Oakland. A show full of Noise, Wolf Eyes would be proud of this show. For those into the extremes of experimentation.
Murs, Sick Jacken at the Fillmore a/a $20 7/8pm. Not sure if you would call this more hip hop, trip hop, or what but should be a nice show, for those into said kinds of music.
Photo Atlas, The Moog (Budapest, Hungary), Smile Radio at thee Parkside a/a $8 9pm. Somewhere between punk and pop punk, with a little electronic punk, we have a new contender, the supposed postpunk, honestly I think it's still just furthering the pop punk genre, though I like these bands a lot better than Blink 182 and all their little clones.
Mi Ami (record release), Baths, Ecoli, Bookworms (DJ) at Amnesia, S.F. 21+. This show goes from psychedelic to hardcore punk, then back to psych dance jams with a little ambient thrown for good measure.
Emily Jane White, Helene Renaut, Chloe Makes Music at the Hemlock 21+. A group of pretty ladies singing with guitars in a folksy kind of vein sounds like a rather splendid show.
Javelin, Maus Haus, The Splinters, StopMakingCents (DJ) at the Uptown, Oakland 21+ $8 9pm. So here's an odd trifecta, 2 dub/retro r&b pop and then a folksy guitar band. An interesting idea to say the least.

Clipd Beaks, Sightings (NY), Bill Orcutt at the Hemlock
21+ $7 9:30pm. Ambient psych rock, noise, and a guy in a band called Harry Pussy doing a solo show, how can that not be entertaining I ask you.
Fred Frith/Theresa Wong at Meridian Gallery, S.F. 8pm. This show should be a strange adventure. We have a lady that makes experimental cello work look like child's play and a guy that makes an odd sort of spoken work kind of thing over music. Worth a look see if you're feeling up to it.
The Ponys, Disappears, Spencey Dude & The Doodles at the Bottom of the Hill $12 10pm. Remember when you got into Joy Division and you were like, "wow this music is changing my life while I listen to it" these guys never grew out of that stage in life. So if you like minimalist rock here you go.
The Coup, Katdelic at the New Parish, Oakland 18+ $20 8:30pm Some more hip hop, lyrics are good, beats are refreshing, sounds great.
5/1
Ludicra, Dusted Angel, Zaticoy, Nordic Forge at Coasters (Boardwalk Bowl), 115 Cliff St., Santa Cruz 21+ $10. Why go all the way to Santa Cruz for a show you ask. Because Ludicra is an awesome black metal band, Dusted Angel is a great doom metal band, Zaticoy has some thrashy elements, and Nordic forge is all death metal/black metal influenced, all on the boardwalk bowl sounds like a killer show to me.
Laudanum, Worm Ouroboros, Dispirit at the Hemlock 21+ $7
9:30pm. Crushing doom, ambient metal, a dash of avante guard ambient, and a screamo band. I'd say worth the price of admission for sure.
Dominique Leone, Ash Reiter, Zimmerman/Glick-Rieman/Carreira at the Totally Intense Fractal Mind Gaze Hut, Oakland. Seems like a nice indie pop lineup of characters. Lets All have a good time together eh.
Broken Social Scene at the Fillmore 9pm. Radio friendly pop music. Maybe there's more there than meets the eye, but not my cup of tea to tell the truth.
Verbal Abuse, The Nerv, Sassy!!! at Bender's, S.F. 21+ $5 9pm. Some punk, a little Garage, and even some hardcore thrown around and about. A rocking good show.
TV Smash Party hosted by East Bay Rat MCs, with live music by: Sam Coad and the Gums, Shari La Las, Hang Jones at 3025 San Pablo Ave. at (at 30th St.), Oakland 18+ $5 (free with donated tv) doors/9pm. Ok. . . who care what the bands sound like, this show wins the awesomeness prize for originality. Go enjoy some mass destruction of some TV's.
5/5
Lazy Magnet, Form A Log (mem. new flesh/social junk/god willing), Nero's Day At Disneyland, Gaze at Heco's, 705 Peralta, Oakland. ok so this appears to be a pretty underground show, finding samples of work has proved interesting at best and what I have uncovered points to a noise/dj kinda vibe, like stuff you can dance to but when you break it all down it's just common noise. I like it maybe you should check it out.
Cannibal Corpse, 1349, Skeletonwitch, Lecherous Nocturne at Slim's. Do you or someone you love enjoy death metal? how about Black metal? If you answered yes or maybe to either of the last 2 questions then GO SEE THIS SHOW!!!
Torche, Circa Survive, Coheed & Cambria at the Warfield 8pm. I liked Torche when I saw them with Boris, but this time around the south east coast trio have teamed up with seminal cock rockers and whiney emo pseudo rockers.
Bane, Alpha & Omega, Wolves & Thieves, Streetwalkers at thee
Parkside, S.F. a/a $12 8pm. Punk rock has some deep roots in this area, and this is a show spanning many different forms of those roots.
Terry Reid, Howlin' Rain (performing together and seperately) at the New Parish, Oakland 9pm (folkyeah). So folk jam band is a good way to describe what's happening here, and add a flair for science fiction as well. Check it out of that sounds like it would be awesome.
Conan O'Brien and the (Fired From) the Tonight Show Band at San Jose State, San Jose $80-$40 8pm. Either you like Conan O'Brien and his comdeic stylings or you don't. I love him to tell the truth, so this should be fun though kind of out of the way down in San Jose.
