SAN FRANCISCO HAPPY HOUR BECOMES UNBEARABLY HAPPY!
San Francisco, CA – San Francisco is a city known round the world for its heightened sense of care-freedom. Hedonism is the cities single time honored tradition; anything that cracks the thin, frothy surface of that tradition runs the risk of being seriously hassled by Hessians, bothered by Bohemians, or nagged by New-agers. What, you might ask, makes this city so exceptionally optimistic? Some would tell you that it’s our liberal politics, our good karma, or God smiles kindly upon this fair city. The real truth is liquid in nature: ALCOHOL. Don’t be fooled into thinking that this notion is any less romantic then the other listed possibilities. At this cities best its wonderful bars are hosting what they refer to as happy hours, but a more proper name would be “Dionysian Orgiastic Sun Worship Hour.” In this journalists’ humble opinion, it is the cheap, delicious alcohol that keeps this city smiling. Were it to lessen in abundance you would see the barely contained horror raise its bestial head and take between his teeth every inch of the sobering city. Don’t take my word for it though. The true Zen quality of happy hour cannot be portrayed accurately with measly words; it demands to be experienced, as much as it demands a sturdy liver.
