Konnichiha travelers. Spring has come to the Green Tortoise and the best thing about spring in San Francisco is the blossoming of the cherries. That's right, its the Cherry Blossom Festival! The weekend of April 9th & April 16th the formal parade will be held on Sunday the 17th. There will be food booths, cultural performances, martial arts, live bands, the annual Queen Program, and more.
The Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival is said to be the second
largest festival outside of Washington, D.C. to celebrate the blooming
of cherry blossoms; and held at one of three remaining Japantowns in the
United States.
I would suggest going on either of the Saturdays a little before noon to catch the San Francisco Taiko Dojo. They are FANTASTIC, and alone they are well worth the trip.
