The end of Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the X-Mas season. The holidays just never end around here. And if your feeling blue (from all the family, shopping, and general chaos) here's some things sure to get you back into the cheer!

Twinkling lights! Here's a couple of Tree Lightings coming up:

Castro Tree Lighting Ceremony -Monday, November 28th 6pm -18th & Castro. Featuring entertainment by the Lesbian/ Gay Chorus and other celebrity guests!

Holiday Tree Lighting -Tuesday, November 29th 4pm -555 California (in front of the Bank of America Building). One of the tallest trees in the region! There will be special guests and musical performances, too!

 If the pretty light's don't do it for you, try hitting the ice! There are two seasonal, ice skating rinks in San Francisco:

Embarcadero Holiday Ice Rink, 4 Embarcadero Ctr.

Union Square Ice Rink, 333 Post st.

Nothing tops of a night of x-mas lights and ice skating, like slipping into a cozy bar for some hot toddies or irish coffees. We like this place, located right off Union Square

Of course, that's just a suggestion. But its what we would do!

The holiday that's all about food...

 Hey travelers! Thanksgiving is fast approaching and we're very busy here at the Tortoise, trying to make it the best one yet! 

We will be having a beautiful lunch spread at 2pm on Thursday, November 24th and its only $6! For this feast that's quite a deal!

This year's menu: Roast turkey rolls, gravy, stuffing, candied yams, cranberry sauce, salad and chips

and for dessert: pies and whipped cream

You have to be a guest at our hostel to enjoy this holiday meal with us. So make your reservations now! Our friendly front desk staff are on 24 hours and would love to talk to you! Just let us know that you want to sign up for the feast and we'll take care of the rest!

In the evening one of our legendary buses will be departing for Death Valley National Park! What better way to enjoy the holiday weekend than in this beautiful (and warm!) desert landscape?! Its so difficult to describe, you'll have to just see it for yourself. Our tour includes 3 days of camping, gourmet cookouts, hiking, and new friends. The only thing missing is....you! So usually there are so many shows going on in San Francisco  you have to kill a chicken to divine what show would be best to attend. . . I guess that's only if you practice Santeria, but regardless my point is, the next month is looking a little sparse.  We will keep you posted of new developments but here's what we have so far.
