Most residents of San Francisco don't often feel like venturing as far as Oakland. But the truth is, there are great things to do there! Oakland has a lot of great art, music, and nightlife. Actually, the BART ride from the Montgomery Station (the closest station to the hostel) takes less time than most bus rides within the city!
On the first Friday of every month a group of galleries in Oakland host the "Art Murmur". This is an event where all of the participating galleries stay open late and allow free and open entry into their exibits. Many have refreshments (wine, beer, snacks, etc.), artists are there to comment on their work, and there are sometimes even 1 night only instilations. Walking between the galleries you can enjoy the sounds of local musicians as well as other various street performances.

The event takes place on Telegraph Ave, between 19th and 40th st. Most of the galleries are open between 7-9PM, but often 'til 10PM.

Hope to see you all there!
