It’s
Saturday morning, you’re all hung over from the Friday night pub-crawl,
you spent way too much money on Yagerbombs, and you’re broke. We’ve all
been there (minus the Yagerbombs- no thanks). How could you spend a
relaxing, entertaining and FREE day in San Francisco? Saturday,
September 12th your prayers will be answered: The 11th Annual Power to the Peaceful festival!
The day
starts out with morning Yoga practice from 9-11am. Last year, over 1000
people downward dogged their morning away, myself included. Although
there were some insanely good practicers (the guy next to me kept doing
headstands- showoff), the majority of the people are beginners. So all
of you novice Yogis, worry not: you can hide out in the back of the
crowd. Hopefully Henry Headstand won’t be there again this year.
Around
11AM, bands begin performing and speakers begin… speaking. If you’re
not interested in the main stage, there are DJs and arts and crafts
tents. You can even get your face painted! I highly recommend it. They
even have a tent for napping, so if you fancy a siesta after watching
Michael Franti perform, go crazy.
From the website: “We want to inspire to serve!
We want you to join us to make a real difference in this world, in your
home, community or globally – it all starts with service – however
small or large – just being present, gaining knowledge, field work,
charity, listening & sharing are ways of serving humanity and
making real positive change.”
So go get your peace on!
